Shamrockin' for a good cause: The annual 'greening' of Ghent is Friday evening

Several blocks of Colley Avenue will close Friday evening for the annual Shamrockin' in Ghent, a St. Patrick's Day block party, to raise money for the Hope House Foundation.

Shamrockin’ in Ghent, previously known as the Greening of Ghent, is the popular annual fundraiser in Norfolk’s Ghent. The St. Patrick’s Day Block party takes place on Friday, 6 to 10 p.m.

Hosted by the Hope House Foundation, the event features live music, including The Fighting Jamesons and Tidewater Pipes and Drums. Food, beer and Irish Whiskey vendors will be on site.

The Hope House Foundation supports adults with developmental disabilities living on their own.
