WHRO Public Media is the largest local media company in Norfolk, VA with four TV stations and five radio channels. Since 1961, we have been at the pulse of pop culture, technology, current events and most importantly, education. Owned by a collaboration of 21 school divisions, WHRO Public Media offers employment opportunities in a variety of disciplines including communications, education, creative services, programming, interactive services, information technology, development, engineering, accounting and many other areas. Internship Opportunities

WHRO offers a wide variety of internship opportunities designed to provide students and recent graduates with knowledge and practical experience in the field of public media.

The internship allows individuals an opportunity to gain practical experience in a career setting. These experiences can allow them to combine their educational pursuits with day-to-day operations of the telecommunications industry.

To be eligible, interns must be currently enrolled in a college or university or similar curriculum to which the internship applies or have graduated within 12 months from the beginning of the internship. Interns may receive academic credit for their internship if approved and arranged by their educational institution. Interns will not receive any type of compensation for participation in the program.

WHRO reserves the right to cancel an internship for poor performance and/or attendance.

Internships are offered throughout the year to coincide with the typical academic calendar. Internships range from 15-40 hours per week, depending upon the needs of the intern and their assigned department.
