Out of the Box Album of the Week--Florence + the Machine--Everybody Scream

The sixth album by Florence + The Machine, “Everybody Scream” is a raw, visceral and cathartic masterpiece. It was released on Halloween but it’s title is inspired by a much more real and life-threatening experience than simple trick or treating, an ectopic pregnancy and emergency surgery she endured in 2023.

While her music has always been empowered by dark magic, the brush with mortality infuses every track with an urgent blend of pain and transcendence that is intriguing and beguiling.

Working with producer Aaron Dessner, the signature sound of the band is expanded upon, incorporating gothic folk, orchestral swells and a heavy sonic crunch. She explores themes of womanhood, mortality and self destructiveness breaking free of her pain ending a wild theatrical journey.

"Everybody Scream" is a bewitching powerhouse of deep seated rage that ultimately liberates using witchcraft and folk remedies to conjure up beauty from a horrific experience.
