In 2019 Christone “Kingfish” Ingram arrived like a savior of the Blues with his debut album. The Clarksdale, Mississippi native played guitar like a house on fire and now six years later on his third studio album “Hard Road” he finds a balance between traditional blues and more contemporary styles without sacrificing his original rootsy integrity.
Ingram has this to say about his new album, “I’ve been balancing fame, heartbreak, love, and relationships while trying to stay grounded, touring, creating, and maturing. These songs are about owning my story. They’re about learning to see myself clearly and seeing others with more compassion. That’s changed the way I write, the way I play, and the way I live.”
He has made a bold move to control his artistic direction by forming his own label to release the album on. Teaming with his original producer and drummer, Tom Hambridge, Ingram’s vocals have improved dramatically since his first album. They are more rich, refined and emotional and are now on par with his guitar playing, allowing him to jump from fiery blues shouters to soul ballads.
Ingram has spent the last few year collaborating with many different types of artists from Buddy Guy to Sierra Hull to G. Love to his original champion, Eric Gales and he has gathered the knowledge he’s learned from them and brought it to “Hard Road.” He is no longer the next big thing, he is what is happening now.
