On their 13th studio album, The Black Keys pivot to a more groove oriented sound, perfect for smaller clubs with dance floors, venues they outgrew years ago.
With new songwriting partners like Daniel Tashian, Rick Knowells and Scott Storch, Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney cut ties with their past management, postponed their most recent tour and set about recrafting their sound. They’ve widened their reach and moved beyond the buzz-heavy sound of their early work to put together tight, focused power pop.
Says Dan Auerbach of the songs on the new album, “The one thing they all have in common is that they have to work on the dance floor. You can definitely hear that influence.”
Following closely on the heels of their last album, "No Rain, No Flowers," finds The Black Keys stretching out and experimenting while not losing the gritty blues-rock of their past albums, it’s a subtle shift that gives the band a new way of having fun.
