Out of the Box Album of the Week--Bruce Springsteen--Tracks 2

Bruce Springsteen says of his songs “I always put them away, but I don’t throw them away,” and he shows us what he means with a jaw dropping box set of seven completed albums that have never been released until now on “Tracks 2” which includes 83 songs.

The LA Garage Sessions are songs recorded after
"Nebraska” and before “Born in the USA” and gives Springsteen fans the long lost link between the two albums.
The Streets of Philadelphia Sessions draw from the era when he won an Oscar and a Grammy for the title song but, for the first time, reveals how that song came about.

There are country rock experiments on Somewhere North of Nashville, arena-ready E Street energy on Perfect World, richly-woven border tales on Inyo, a film soundtrack for a movie that was never made on Faithless and an homage to American pop standards with Twilight Hours.

In the liner notes Springsteen gives various reasons for not releasing this material and says “I’ve played this music to myself and often close friends for years now. I’m glad you’ll get a chance to finally hear them.” This revelatory box set is, along with it’s predecessor released in 1998, is a fascinating look behind the scenes at one of our greatest storytellers.
