We’ve hosted fun events and screenings as well as gatherings that bring the community together around important topics. Last month we held a transportation town hall to connect regional transportation leaders and members of the community for a conversation about the future of transportation in our area.
WHRV and WHRO FM have continued to bring you the latest news and arts programs along with music and conversations with local artists. On weekdays at noon on WHRV, we feature programs that tackle local and national issues that affect our listeners. Many of you are already dedicated listeners to these shows, but if you haven’t checked them out yet, you can learn more about them on page 5. It’s our hope that each time you tune in to one of our stations you’ll find engaging content that entertains, enlightens, and informs.
We also have some great programs lined up this month for the holiday season. Whether you enjoy jazz, bluegrass, Broadway tunes, folk, classical music, or traditional Christmas carols, we have something for everyone. On December 22, from 6 p.m. to midnight, WHRV FM will present A Holiday to Remember, our holiday program that we feature every year on the Sunday prior to Christmas. It’s the perfect soundtrack as you wrap up your holiday preparations.
Speaking of wrapping things up, as we wrap up the year with this season of giving, I want to extend a huge thank you to each of you for your faithfulness in supporting our work. It is because of your generosity that we are able to do all the things we do. As 2019 comes to close, we have a couple more opportunities for you to show your support. In this first week of December, our winter TV pledge drive is underway, and our winter radio drive is coming up in the second week of December. I hope you will take these opportunities to consider including WHRO Public Media in your holiday gift giving. Your additional contribution will help us continue to produce engaging and educational programs for Eastern Virginia.
