My daughter, during her studies, had the chance to visit London, Belfast, Paris, Nice, Casablanca, and so many other European cities that it was hard to keep track of where she was each day. These travels opened her up to a world she had never experienced before.
One thing I love about public media is that it introduces you to a variety of people and cultures locally and internationally. We have a great schedule of shows this month that will transport you to unique places both across the nation and around the world. They are all a part of the PBS Summer of Adventure. Visit legendary streets and monuments that changed America, explore earth's natural wonders, and learn about the unique culinary delights of immigrant communities across the nation. You can read more about each of these exciting programs on the next page.
Summer is also a great time to get out in the community and enjoy local events. WHRO FM will be in Chesapeake on July 18 at the city's Food Trucks On the Square event starting at 4 p.m. Join us to enjoy performances from local classical music artists along with great food. Visit whro.org/events for more details.
Speaking of great performances, did you know that WHRV FM is now available on Amazon Echo? This means you can access all of our radio shows with a simple voice command. Whether you are in the kitchen or the garage, simply say, "Alexa, play WHRV Radio" to listen live.
As technology continues to evolve, we want to ensure you can access us whenever and wherever you are. That's because without faithful members like you, we couldn't exist! Whether you tune in online, through TV or radio, or through our WHRO app—thank you for your support. I'd also like to say a huge thank you to everyone who contributed during our television pledge drive last month. Your support is the reason we are able to continue offering the educational and inspiring programs you enjoy.
I hope you have a great summer! Now if I could just figure out how to teach Alexa to mow the yard!
