Norfolk International Airport announced JetBlue would add direct daily flights to Boston from April to October and expects to add direct international flights to the Caribbean later in 2025.

JetBlue announced new nonstop flights to San Juan, Puerto Rico starting in March 2026.

It’s the third flight to the Caribbean out of Norfolk added within the last year and a half.

JetBlue announced Wednesday it will add another nonstop destination to and from Norfolk International Airport: San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Flights will run on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays starting March 27. They’ll leave Norfolk at 9 a.m. and return around 5:20 p.m., according to a press release.

The airline will also start offering service from Richmond to San Juan in March, said Dave Jehn, JetBlue’s vice president of network planning and airline partnerships, in a written statement.

“These additions are a reflection of the growing demand we’re seeing from customers across Virginia who are looking for more convenient and affordable ways to reach the Caribbean,” Jehn said.

It will be the third stop between the Caribbean and Norfolk added in the last year and a half, airport spokesperson Chris Jones said.

Frontier offered flights to San Juan from Norfolk in 2024, but didn’t continue that service in 2025, Jones said. Breeze Airways announced in September it will start offering nonstop flights to Cancún, Mexico starting in January 2026 — the airport’s first international flight in decades.

The airport’s growth and airlines’ decisions to add stops are connected, he said, noting 2025 is on pace to be the busiest ever in the airport’s 87-year history.

“Success begets other successes,” Jones said. “They've seen the growth that has been happening that's caught their attention, that's led to more nonstop flights, and then those nonstop flights, in turn, typically lead to more people being willing to travel.”

San Juan has always been a popular destination for Hampton Roads residents, he said, and now, it will be easier for them to get there.

Tickets are on sale now.
