Williamsburg Symphony Orchestra music director Michael Butterman and Bruton Parish music director Rebecca Davy on "A local Touch" this week.

This Wednesday evening at 9:00 on “A Local Touch – Music With A Virginia Connection,” Raymond Jones talks with two major music directors from Williamsburg’s vibrant music scene about their upcoming seasons.

Bruton Parish music director Rebecca Davy will present the Bach program season opening concert of the Williamsburg Baroque entitled “Just J.S.” Meanwhile, Williamsburg Symphony maestro Michael Butterman will speak about the orchestra’s new season. We then stay a little longer in Williamsburg, with a suite from John Gay’s witty “The Beggars Opera,” performed by the Musicians of Colonial Williamsburg. Next, James Powers leads the Virginia Choral Society in an evocative concert entitled “Songs of the Land and the Sea.” Then we enjoy Virginia’s violin superstar Hilary Hahn playing Paganini’s Violin Concerto No. 1 in D in a spectacular performance. From there we listen to organist Aaron Tan perform the elegant Prelude and Fugue in e minor by French composer Yvonne Hédoux from a release on Richmond’s Raven Records.

Join Raymond Jones Wednesday evening at 9:00 on WHRO-FM for music with “A Local Touch,” or listen online through our Media Player or your preferred device.
