Join host Raymond Jones this Wednesday evening at 9:00 on WHRO-FM for “A Local Touch – Music with a Virginia Connection.”
This week, the program turns to the operatic stage with a special broadcast from Opera in Williamsburg: Gaetano Donizetti’s “Lucia di Lammermoor,” recorded live at the Kimball Theatre. The production is conducted by Maestro Abdiel Vázquez and features soprano Ania Farysei in the title role of Lucia Ashton. She is joined by Suchan Kim as her brother Enrico, Leo Williams as Lord Arturo Bucklaw, and Edward Graves as Sir Edgardo di Ravenswood, Lucia’s ill-fated lover.
If you would like to experience the production on screen as well, WHRO-TV will broadcast this performance on Friday, April 10, at 9 p.m.
Continuing the operatic theme, JoAnn Falleta, music director emeritus of the Virginia Symphony Orchestra, leads her “other” ensemble, the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, in a suite from Richard Strauss’s beloved opera “Der Rosenkavalier.”
Spend a night at the opera this Wednesday at 9:00 p.m. on WHRO-FM 90.3, or listen online, with “A Local Touch.”
