The Album of the Week on Out of the Box is "Creature of Habit" by Courtney Barnett.

Courtney Barnett’s fourth album “Creature of Habit” is all about change. The songs from this Aussie rocker twist that age old saying into “if it’s broke, fix it!”

Partly inspired by her move from Australia to Los Angeles, her first album since the pandemic features song that were hard won compositions as she struggled with writer’s block and told herself at times that she may never write songs again.

The songs heave back and forth between rockers and more dreamy arrangements with her dry wit and slacker delivery always the highlight. There’s an epic guitar solo that closes one and a great collaboration with Waxahatchee on another.

“Creature of Habit” by Courtney Barnett is a witty and warm reflection of an artist just trying to stay out of her own way, using the mundane to address the universal fear of change and finding her footing in a new world.
