Out of the Box Album of the Week--Squeeze--Trixies

"Trixies" by Squeeze’s is a fascinating lost treasure, it’s a re-recording of songs written by Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook in 1974 when they were teenagers but didn’t have a recording contract. What they did have was the charm that would later make them famous.

"Trixies" is a concept album centered on a mythical London nightclub populated by gangsters, actors, and working-class stiffs. Being as young as they were, much of what they wrote about had to come from just their imaginations.

The album proves that the chemistry of the duo was there from day one. Many of the songs were influenced by who their favorite artists were at the time like Elton john, Sparks and David Bowie.

Difford says “Long story short, these were songs that we just didn’t have enough musical experience to record properly.” "Trixies," gives Squeeze the advantage reliving their youthful energy while relying on what they lacked at the time, five decades of recording savvy.
