This Week on Another View: Political Turmoil- The Roundtable Pundits Weigh In

The Pundits- Daun Hester, Eric Claville, host Barbara Hamm Lee, Allison Moore, and Gaylene Kanoyton

With the help of eight Democrats, the Senate managed to get the sixty votes needed to approve a bill to re-open the government. The Federal government is open after the longest shut down in history, but the move has caused a rift within the Democratic Party because the bill does not include plans to continue federal subsidies to keep healthcare insurance premiums affordable. In the midst of all of this, Virginia votes solid blue in its statewide elections delivering 13 new seats to the House of Delegates and a win at the top of the ticket with the election of Abigail Spanberger as Governor, Ghazala Hashmi as Lieutenant Governor, and Jay Jones as Attorney General. Is this a foretelling of things to come? The pundits weigh in on this edition of Another View. Joining host Barbara Hamm Lee is Norfolk City Treasurer Daun Hester, President of the Hampton NAACP Gaylene Kanoyton, Award Winning Comedienne Allison Moore, and legal analyst Dr. Eric Claville. You can hear this and all episodes of Another View on-demand on the show's program page.

Barry Graham used to arrive at WHRO with a briefcase full of papers and lesson plans. For 32 years he taught US and Virginia Government in the Virginia Beach Public Schools. While teaching was always his first love, radio was a close second. While attending Old Dominion, Barry was program director at WODU, the college radio station. After graduating, he came to WHRO as an overnight announcer. Originally intending to stay on only while completing graduate school, he was soon hooked on Public Radio and today is the senior announcer on WHRV. In 2001, Barry earned his Ph.D in Urban Studies by writing a history of WHRO and analyzing its impact upon local education, policy and cultural arts organizations.
