Out of the Box Album of the Week--Roomful of Blues-Steppin' Out!

Roomful of Blues have been reviving the blues genre since 1968 with their rambunctious style and their new album "Steppin' Out!" features, for the first time, a female lead singer named D.D. Bastos who adds new life to the band’s infectious spirit.

They’ve long been known for their signature "little big-band" sound and the full throated singing of Bastos brings fresh energy to these timeless reinterpretations of mostly obscure songs originally recorded by legends including Big Mama Thornton, Big Maybelle , Etta James, Buddy and Ella Johnson , Jimmy McCracklin, Tiny Bradshaw, Z.Z. Hill and Billy the Kid Emerson.

Produced by long time band leader and guitarist Chris Vachon, "Steppin Out!," the 20th album by Roomful of Blues has pulsating rhythms, blasting horns and raucous guitars.

Roomful Of Blues, one of the premiere blues ensembles in the world, continue to break new ground and are unafraid to try new things. Dozens of musicians have passed through the ranks of this storied musical institution and with the addition of their new lead singer, they haven’t finished shaking things up.
