This Saturday, WHRO-FM 90.3 continues its summer journey through the story of Manon with a broadcast of Jules Massenet’s “Manon” from Teatro Regio in Turin, Italy. Tune in at 1:00 p.m. to experience this French masterpiece, which brings to life the passionate and tragic tale of Manon Lescaut and her ill-fated love for the Chevalier des Grieux.

Soprano Ekaterina Bakanova stars in the title role, capturing Manon’s youthful spirit and the desires that lead to her downfall. Tenor Atalla Ayan sings the role of the devoted des Grieux, while baritone Björn Bürger performs as Manon’s cousin Lescaut. The cast also features Roberto Scandiuzzi as the Comte des Grieux, Thomas Morris as Guillot de Morfontaine, and Allen Boxer as Brétigny, alongside the Teatro Regio Chorus and Orchestra under the baton of Evelino Pidò.

Tune in to WHRO-FM 90.3, or listen online, this Saturday, July 19, at 1 p.m., and continue the summer exploration of Manon Lescaut through the music of three great composers.
