Out of the Box Album of the Week--Caamp--Copper Changes Color

Caamp is the name of a band formed by childhood friends Taylor Meier and Evan Westfall who met at summer camp when they were middle school students. “Copper Changes Color” is their fourth album, a collection of acoustic campfire songs about love and self doubt.

About the metaphor in the album’s title, Meier says “Nothing stays the same forever and there’s something beautiful about that. Time passes, seasons turn, people grow. Change is what makes life special."

The album is co-produced by Beatriz Artola who has worked with Fleet Foxes and Tucker Martine known for his work with REM and My Morning Jacket. The songs are drawn from two separate sessions with the producers but they are so consistent you’d be hard pressed to tell the difference.

The songs and the album as a whole are almost over before there is time to fully take them in, adhering to the theme of the changes we experience in life. So don’t blink or you’ll miss the thought provoking lyricism and acoustic arrangements that make “Copper Changes Color” so unique.
