According to the Federation of Virginia Foodbanks, one in nine Virginians have no idea where their next meal is coming from. They are food insecure, meaning they have no reliable access to enough food. Black and Hispanic households are twice as likely to be food insecure than white households, and about a third of those experiencing food insecurity are children. How do we feed those who are hungry? Two people are the front lines of those who are working hard to curb hunger in our community- Leah Williams-Rumbley, who is the Chief Programs and Innovation Officer for the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and The Eastern Shore and Jay Boone, food accessibility advocate and President of K.U. S. P. (Keeping US Secure and Prosperous), a non-profit organization committed to helping disadvantaged communities move from survival to true prosperity and also the co-chair of the Norfolk Food Policy Council. This, and all Another View Programs can be heard on demand on the show's program page.
