On May first, President Donald Trump signed an executive order calling for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting to " cease direct funding to NPR and PBS" including canceling current funding and also to eliminate all future funding. The order also calls for federal agencies to review and eliminate any existing grants or contracts that provide funding for NPR and PBS. What does this mean for the future of Public Broadcasting in America? Proposed funding cuts to NPR and PBS is not a new idea. As far back as 1969, there were calls for cuts to Public Media.
