Out of the Box Album of the Week--Bleachers

Jack Antonoff is slumming on Bleacher’s new self-titled album. The uber producer, who has won grammys three years in a row for his work with other artists, has his band cruising the interstate rather than the red carpet with a set of songs perfectly suited for an after midnight ride.

Antonoff’s tongue in cheek lyrics combined with his love of eighties tropes provide a musical journey that resonates with anyone who has ever felt out of place, it’s a tribute to the past that avoid’s feeling derivative.

Guest appearences are expected from a producer with such a wide ranging client list and he co-writes with some contemporary artists like Florence Welch, Aaron Dressner of the National and Matt Healy of the 1975. He shares vocals with Lana Del Rey on one of the album's most surreall and dreamiest songs.

Crossing generational boundaries, Bleachers is a heartfelt homage to the past, seen through the lens of today's musical landscape. It’s the work of a bar band whose leader just happens to be one of today’s most influential artists and the fact that he has the energy and conviction for an album like this is nothing short of remarkable.
