Eliza Gilkyson is an artist who believes a song can change the world. Her new album “Home” is a stirring collection of them celebrating that familial setting.
Gylkyson has been recording since the late eighties and collaborates with a number of artists who have shared her history. Her brother, Tony Gilkyson, Van Dyke Parks a collaborator with her father and a couple of great duets with Mary Chapin Carpenter and Robert Earl Keen.
This is her first album on her own label Realiza Records and Eliza says “The pandemic changed our lives and our world forever, It has been a time of terrible loss and insecurity about the future. These songs were born out of all these conflicting forces coming into play while trying to find the balance.”
“Home” features a wide range of songs that reflect Gilkyson’s appreciation for family and where it originates, the place that provides nourishment and compassion. With theses songs she’s asking for it not to be taken for granted.
