Virginia Humanities at WHRO: Virtual Q&A 2026

Virginia Humanities at WHRO: Virtual Q&A 2026

Virginia Humanities at WHRO, a regional humanities center located at WHRO Public Media, has announced that applications are open for the second year of its grant program supporting Hampton Roads’ museums, libraries, historic sites, and other cultural nonprofits. Following a successful inaugural cycle that funded 11 nonprofit projects, the program continues to invest in humanities-centered storytelling across the region. Join us for a digital Q&A with Virginia Humanities to learn more about the statewide grants and the local ones that VA Humanities at WHRO funds.

Virginia Humanities Grants & Regional Centers: Applicant Support Session Join Virginia Humanities for an online Grants Open House designed to support prospective applicants across our grant programs and Regional Humanities Centers. This session is an opportunity to learn more about Virginia Humanities’ grants, connect directly with grants staff, and meet the coordinators of our Regional Humanities Centers at Virginia Humanities at UVA Wise and Virginia Humanities at WHRO.

The program will begin with a brief overview of Virginia Humanities’ grant opportunities and regional resources, followed by breakout rooms where participants can speak directly with grants staff and Regional Humanities Center coordinators. These smaller-group conversations are intended to help you ask specific questions, explore which grant opportunities may be the best fit for your project, and learn how regional centers can support public humanities work in your community. This session is open to anyone interested in applying for a Virginia Humanities grant, including first-time applicants, returning applicants, and organizations seeking guidance on how to get started.
