Alan Rodriguez Espinoza is a multimedia news reporter and Spanish-English translator and interpreter currently interning for VPM News in Richmond. In the past, he has interned as a videographer for Richmond Magazine and has translated news for the Latin American News Digest. Alan is an alumnus of the Virginia Commonwealth University Robertson School of Media and Culture.

Louis Hansen is co-founder and senior editor of The Virginia Center for Investigative Journalism at WHRO. He’s been a journalist for more than 20 years in New York, Philadelphia, Hampton Roads and Silicon Valley. He was an enterprise and investigative reporter for The Virginian-Pilot for more than a decade, covering state government, military affairs and criminal justice. He served as a combat correspondent in Iraq and the Persian Gulf, covered the Virginia legislature and state and federal elections. Hansen has won national and state awards for his work. His profile of a teenage gang member, “The Girl Who Took Down the Gang,” was published in a collection of the ten best newspaper narratives of 2012.

Connor Worley is a Missouri native who creates long-form content in coordination with WHRO’s newsroom and other departments. WHRV listeners will recognize Connor as an occasional on-air host. Connor earned his Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Print from the University of Missouri and a master's degree in Journalism and Audio at the Cronkite School of Arizona State. Connor enjoys the great outdoors, technology, and music. He lives in Virginia Beach.

Rebecca (Bec) Fedhaus Adams is the first ever news director at WHRO Public Media. She leads the strategic vision for local journalism. Bec is an alumna of the Poynter Leadership Academy for Women in Media (2019) and a member of the Editorial Integrity and Leadership Initiative (2020) from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism. She is an outspoken advocate for diversity in public media and mentors young journalists to reach their goals. She is a member of the 2020 Next Generation Radio staff. Her work is driven by a conviction that the way we do our work is as important as the work we do, and that curiosity and humility are the cornerstones of that philosophy. She has served as an editor and project manager at WAMU in Washington, D.C., the talent director at the Association of Independents in Radio (AIR), a general assignment reporter at WKMS, an education reporter at The Paducah Sun and a freelancer and consultant. Bec's stories and collaborations have won multiple state, regional and national awards including in the "Best Use of Sound," category for a story about an evangelical horse whisperer. She holds two degrees from Murray State University. A homesick Kentuckian, Bec has been named both a roller derby MVP and Miss Congeniality in past lives. She lives in Virginia Beach with her spouse, Drew. When she’s not at work, she enjoys karaoke, hosting dinner parties and traveling.

Christopher Tyree is a Virginia native and the senior director and co-founder of the Virginia Center for Investigative Journalism. For more than 30 years, his cameras and pen have carried him to report on stories on nearly every continent. His award-winning projects have helped shape policy and spur awareness of important issues. His work has been published in hundreds of the world’s leading periodicals and broadcast networks including the BBC, New York Times, Washington Post, NPR and Deutsche Welle. He earned a graduate degree in visual communication from Ohio University and BS in journalism from James Madison University. Chris, his wife, Melanie, son, Jack, and their pups Milo and JoJo Pickles enjoy hiking the many trails along the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Barry Graham used to arrive at WHRO with a briefcase full of papers and lesson plans. For 32 years he taught US and Virginia Government in the Virginia Beach Public Schools. While teaching was always his first love, radio was a close second. While attending Old Dominion, Barry was program director at WODU, the college radio station. After graduating, he came to WHRO as an overnight announcer. Originally intending to stay on only while completing graduate school, he was soon hooked on Public Radio and today is the senior announcer on WHRV. In 2001, Barry earned his Ph.D in Urban Studies by writing a history of WHRO and analyzing its impact upon local education, policy and cultural arts organizations.

Raymond Jones originally came to WHRO in 1983 as an announcer. In 1990, he became a Special Program Consultant to the Vice President of Public Radio Services, and in 1993 was named Vice President of Public Radio Services, as such Station Manager for 89.5 WHRV FM and 90.3 WHRO FM. Raymond now serves as the Cultural Resource Manager for WHRO.

Paul Shugrue has been a Virginia radio personality his entire career, working his way up from his "humble" beginnings at the Virginia Tech student station, WUVT in Blacksburg, through Charlottesville, Richmond and finally Hampton Roads. He has been married over thirty five years to his college sweetheart, a Norfolk native and they have two twenty-something boys.
