Tune in Sunday at 2:00pm on WHRO-FM, for “Feminine Fusion,” and discover outstanding performances and works by women who have made an impact on classical music. This week, Feminine Fusion adds another block to its ever-expanding Patchwork Quilt of women’s music, bringing a little extra brightness to your afternoon.
The program opens with Rebecca Clarke’s delicate “Lullaby,” performed by Ensemble consonari, featuring violinist Anna Larson and pianist Dr. Kaden Larson. Next, the “Stone Trail” by Bulgarian-born composer Dobrinka Tabakova, inspired by the traces of human creativity left in stone, takes us to Eastern Europe. From there we turn to a sparkling performance by harpsichordist Elaine Funaro – a champion of contemporary works for the instrument – with “Fandangle Indeed.” If you enjoy choral music, you’re sure to like the warm and expressive “Caminante” by Jocelyn Hagen, in a performance by the Santa Fe Chorale. Finally, we bring the program to a charming finale with a work from French Romantic composer Louise Farrenc, “Les Italiennes,” performed by pianist Jinyang Dong. Join host Diane Jones for “Feminine Fusion” this Sunday at 2pm on WHRO-FM, and spend an hour with five distinctive female musical voices, some wonderful additions to your classical repertoire. You can also listen online through our Media Player or your preferred device.
