Throughout the month of October, Feminine Fusion took a trip around the globe, but this Sunday at 2pm, it is time to come Home Again, with music from women in the US.
The program opens with cellist Arlen Hlusko and selections from her luminous release “komorebi” featuring new works from American composers including Reena Esmail, Leilehua Lanzilotti, and Dawn Avery. Next, we’ll hear Francine Trester’s settings of the poetic “Four Thoreau Songs” performed by the Aire Duo, an unusual pairing of soprano and trumpet. We’ll also enjoy a powerful performance of “In a House Besieged” by composer Stacy Garrop, performed by the Grammy Award-winning vocal ensemble The Crossing. We’ll end the program with a work that travels the US (and beyond) with Victoria Bond’s “Bridges,” inspired by actual bridges, one of which is located in Galax, Virginia.
Listen to Feminine Fusion this Sunday at 2pm on WHRO-FM, and let host Diane Jones bring you home again. You can also listen online through our Media Player or your preferred device.
