Tune in Sunday at 2:00pm on WHRO-FM, for “Feminine Fusion,” your weekly radio program celebrating the influence of women in classical music.
This week, Feminine Fusion take its final journey westward, exploring the heart of classical music. These composers and performers demonstrate how music can express identity, preserve tradition, and transform personal experience into something universal. The program begins with the rhythmic “Exotic Dances” of Bulgarian composer Albena Petrovic-Vratchanska; traverse the green Scottish Highlands with contemplative “As the Feet of a Deer” by composer Helen Leach; then take a step back to the Romantic era with music from German composer Clara Schumann. The program ends with a performance from pianist Anna Shelest, from her deeply personal CD dedicated exclusively to works from her Ukrainian homeland.
Listen to Feminine Fusion this Sunday at 2pm on WHRO-FM, and discover how each woman draws on her distinctive cultural heritage to create music that transcends geographical and historical boundaries. You can also listen online through our Media Player or your preferred device.
