Looking North on ‘Feminine Fusion’

This Sunday at 2pm, join host Diane Jones as “Feminine Fusion” starts an annual global trek to the four corners of the Earth, exploring works and performances of women far and wide. 
This week we begin our musical journey looking North, to Canada, Norway, Finland – and music composed inside the Arctic Circle. So, bundle up and let host Diane Jones guides you through the snowy musical landscapes. The program includes “The World is Blue at Its Edges” and “Aurora” by American composer Mary Ellen Childs, written during her residency in Svalbard, a Norway archipelago just 10 miles from the North Pole. We’ll also hear Finnish composer Outi Tarkiainen’s “Midnight Sun,” a performance by Norwegian violinist Eldbjørg Hemsing (“Arctic Suite”), and two Canadian musicians joined by the ensembles they founded: violinist Angéle Dubeau and La Piéta, and cellist Elinor Frey with the Accademia De’ Dissonanti.
