This week's Best of Pickin features music from Ringo Starr teaming with Americana great Alison Krauss on his 2025 release "Look Up." The album was produced by T-Bone Burnett, who was the mastermind behind the resurgent interest in Bluegrass with the O Brother Soundtrack. Also, music from Sierra Ferrell from the "Live on Mountain Stage" release that showcases performances from the long-running NPR program. And, we'll have a great set from traditional Bluegrass stars Don Reno and Red Smiley, Bobby Osborne, JD Crowe and the New South, and James King. JD Crowe's legendary 1975 self-titled album, known as Rounder 0044 (The Rounder label and the catalog number) introduced Ricky Skaggs, Jerry Douglas, and Tony Rice to a wider audience when they were just beginning to emerge in their careers. The album was selected by the Library of Congress for their National Recording Registry and also for inclusion in the Grammy Hall of Fame. It's The Best of Pickin- just perfect for your Friday night.
