Tune in to this weekend's Acoustic Highway for a (belated...) Birthday celebration for the legendary Singer-Songwriter- activist Pete Seeger. Born, May 3, 1919, he would almost single-handedly launch a genre of music through seven decades of performing. He was a member of the legendary group The Weavers and also recorded and performed with many of the leading musicians of folk music. Known almost as much for his activism, Seeger was a prominent figure during civil rights demonstrations, and anti-war protests of the 1960s. We'll hear a set of his songs, including a track with Roger McGuinn. Also, music from local and regional artists Jim Masters (who is set to appear this month on the next WHRO Tiny Desk Concert), Logan Vath, Bobby Plough, and Dustin Furlow. And a track from the new ep from Doug Alan Wilcox. It's a jam-packed Highway. Tune in Sunday night at 9 on WHRV.
