This Wednesday at 9:00 p.m., “A Local Touch – Music with a Virginia Connection” will be a night of orchestras. Join Raymond Jones for a program including Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9, “From the New World”, with the Williamsburg Symphony conducted by Michael Butterman; and the Symphony No. 2 in D by Sibelius with the Virginia Symphony conducted by Thomas Wilkins.
After talking with Maestro Butterman about the Williamsburg Symphony’s upcoming concerts, Raymond Jones will interview Virginia Symphony concertmaster Grace Park. Then, we’ll hear her play the Mozart Violin Concerto No. 5, “The Turkish”, with the Prague Philharmonia.
We’ll also have Maestro Wilkins leading the 2008 All-Virginia Student Orchestra in “Les Preludes” by Franz Liszt; plus violist Beverly Baker in “Sanctum” by Adolphus Hailstork.
Spend a night listening to local orchestras with Raymond Jones on WHRO-FM Wednesday evening at 9:00, or listen online through our Media Player or your favorite device.
