Soprano Lisette Oropesa stars as Elvira, a young Puritan woman driven to the brink when she believes she has been abandoned on her wedding day. Tenor Lawrence Brownlee is Arturo, torn between his passion for Elvira and his duty to his cause. The cast also features baritone Artur Ruciński as Elvira’s former fiancé Riccardo and bass-baritone Christian Van Horn as her uncle Giorgio.
On the podium, Maestro Marco Amiliato conducts the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and Chorus in a score renowned for its lyrical beauty and dazzling vocal writing.
