The holidays are a wonderful time to hear the music of George Frideric Handel, so WHRO-FM has you covered. Tune in this Saturday, December 27, at 1 p.m. and go back in time to revisit some of Handel’s most beloved performances at the Met.

Listeners will have the opportunity to listen to “Rinaldo,” the first Handel opera the Met ever presented in 1984, starring Marilyn Home, Benita Valente, and Samuel Ramey.

The program continues with Handel’s dramatic oratorio “Samson” from a 1986 performance featuring Jon Vickers, Leona Mitchell, and Kiri Te Kanawa.

This special broadcast also marks the 300th anniversary of Handel’s “Rodelinda,” which premiered in 1725, with excerpts from a 2011 Met production starring soprano Renée Fleming, conducted by Harry Bicket.

Tune to WHRO-FM 90.3, or listen online, for “Handel at the Met” from the Robert K. Johnson Foundation-Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network.
