WHRO-FM brings the holiday magic of the Metropolitan Opera with a live broadcast of Mozart’s fairy tale, “The Magic Flute.” Tune in this Saturday, December 20, at 1 p.m. to taste this seasonal treat, abridged and sung in English, which makes it ideal for listeners of all ages.
Tenor Paul Appleby stars as Tamino, the prince on a quest for love and truth, opposite soprano Joélle Harvey as Pamina, the courageous princess. The cast also features bass-baritone Michael Samuel as the birdcatcher Papageno, soprano Rainelle Krause in her network broadcast debut as the Queen of the Night, and bass Alexander Köpeczi as the high priest Sarastro.
Maestro Steven White conducts the Met Orchestra and Chorus in Mozart’s enchanting score, presented in the beloved production by Julie Taymor.
