Following the performances of “Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg” and “Parsifal,” WHRO-FM brings you a third of Wagner’s masterpieces with another production from the world-famous Bayreuth Festival: “Lohengrin.” Tune in this Saturday at 1 p.m. to experience one of Wagner’s most beloved works, filled with mystery, faith, and soaring music.
This production brings together an outstanding cast led by tenor Piotr Beczala in the title role and Elza van der Heever as Elsa of Brabant. They are joined by Mika Kares as King Heinrigh, Ólafur Sigurðarson as Friedrich von Telramund, and Miina-Liisa Värelä as Ortrud, under the masterful direction of Christian Thielemann, one of today’s foremost Wagner conductors.
