Set amid the political intrigue of ancient Egypt, the opera follows Julius Caesar’s encounter with Cleopatra, a queen as ambitious as she is enchanting. Handel’s score is filled with emotional depth, brilliant arias, and dramatic intensity.
The all-star cast includes Christophe Dumaux in the title role, Olga Kulchynska as Cleopatra, Lucile Richardot as Cornelia, and Yurly Myneko as Tolomeo. They are joined by Le Concert d’Astree under the direction of the acclaimed conductor Emmanuelle Haïm, with the Salzburg Bach Choir providing choral richness.
