This Saturday, WHRO-FM invites you to experience a rare gem of the French Baroque as the WFMT Opera Series continues with “Les Fêtes d'Hébé” by Jean-Philippe Rameau, broadcast from Paris’ Opéra Comique. The title translates to “The Festivals of Hebe,” referring to the Greek goddess of youth. In this opera-ballet, Rameau celebrates the lyrical arts (music, poetry, and dance) through a series of enchanting scenes presented in her honor.
The production features a distinguished cast, including Emmanuelle de Negri as Hébé, the goddess of youth, and Lea Desandre in multiple roles as Sapho, Iphise, and Eglé. Ana Vieira Leite, Antonin Rondepierre, Cyril Auvity, Marc Mauillon, Lisandro Abadie, Renato Dolcini, and Matthieu Walendzik complete the cast, portraying gods, shepherds, and heroes in a series of lyrical and dance-filled tableaux, all accompanied by the elegant sound of Les Arts Florissants Chorus and Orchestra.
Don’t miss the chance to discover Rameau’s radiant music and the enchanting world of Les Fêtes d'Hébé. Tune in to WHRO-FM 90.3, or listen online via our Media Player, this Saturday at 1:00 p.m. and let this French Baroque masterpiece brighten your weekend.
