This Week on The Acoustic Highway, we’ll look at some of the artists and the songs of the civil rights movement.  We’ll hear from icons of the era like Bob Dylan, Joan, Baez, and Pete Seeger, who helped to define the years with songs like “We Shall Overcome,” and “ Ain’t Gonna Let Nobody Turn Me Around.” We’ll also hear from Josh White, who was an early advocate for civil rights with songs like “Freedom Road.” Also featured is Janis Ian, whose 1966 hit “Society’s Child” was a call for tolerance, and, a later tune by her called” Black and White” which recounts civil rights battles including the 1965 Selma, and Montgomery marches. The Highway continues its programming in celebration of Black History Month.

Tune in Sunday at 9:00 p.m. on 89.5
