WHRO-FM Public Media Welcomes Rebecca Evans

NORFOLK, VA (September 6, 2018) – Well known arts and culture reporter, Rebecca Evans has joined WHRO 90.3FM full time as Classical Announcer and Content Producer. Evans, an experienced writer and producer, has been WHRO’s arts and culture reporter for the past year, writing and hosting Opening Night, a fresh, exciting take on our vibrant local arts scene.

Evans brings great energy and enthusiasm to the role, as well as a deep knowledge of classical music and the local and regional art scenes. In addition to her writing skills, she brings a background as a classically trained soprano, as well as a commitment to expanding audiences for the arts, and additional experience in the areas of arts marketing and social media.

In her new position, Evans will continue to host and produce Opening Night, as well as hosting midday and weekend classical programs, writing for WHRO member publications and the website and assisting with community outreach events and development of new local programming.

“Rebecca will be a dynamic, versatile addition to our staff and I look forward to working with her to carry the legacy of WHRO FM into a strong future,” said Wayla Chambo, Music Coordinator, and host of Afternoon Classics.

Listeners can tune in live on WHRO 90.3FM, WHRO.org and WHRO’s Media App.
