Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats have been reviving rugged r & b themes for ten years and their latest album “South of Here” combines their muscular beat with potent lyrics dealing with anxiety and insecurity.
Rateliff says the songs are more personal then what they’ve done in the past hoping to relate what’s happening in his own life to universal struggles with love and loss. His soul stirring vocals seamless blend with the band’s ability to bring out the emotion in his songs.
This is the band’s fourth studio album and is produced by Brad Cook who allows Rateliff to move forward after the death of his friend and producer Richard Swift in 2018. Many of the songs deal with the pain and trauma that remains.
"South of Here" paints vivid pictures of life's highs and lows in a journey filled with raw emotion and infectious rhythms. Nathaniel Rateliff and The Night Sweats' not only stay true to their roots but also push their musical boundaries in this soulful, vibrant collection of songs.
