StoryCorps Visits Hampton Roads

Beginning October 22nd, you’ll have the opportunity to share your stories during the StoryCorps MobileBooth’s month-long visit to Hampton Roads.  At the MobileBooth, interviews are conducted between two people who know and care about each other.  A trained facilitator will guide you through the interview process and handle all technical aspects of the recording.  At the end of a 40-minute session, you’ll walk away with a CD of the interview; and with your permission, a second copy will become part of an archive at the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress for future generations to hear. 

You’ll hear a selection of these local stories on WHRV, and we’ll even create special programs around the project.  Some segments may air nationally on NPR’s Morning Edition.

We’re really excited about hosting this national initiative, and hope as many of you as possible will take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.  The MobileBooth will be located in Town Point Park in Norfolk, adjacent to Nauticus, from October 22nd through November 19th.  StoryCorps plans to collect over 130 interviews during its visit – yours could be well among them!
