You are cordially invited to attend screenings of the PBS series CARRIER on April 5th at 2:30pm at Thomas Nelson Community College in Hampton or on April 6th at 2:30pm at Nauticus in Norfolk.  The events are free and open to the public.

The USS Nimitz, 24 stories high and three football fields long, carries 5,300 navy personnel and 85 military aircraft.  In this icon series, PBS viewers will get a gripping view of the deployment and operations aboard a carrier during Operation Iraqi Freedom, and emotional accounts of life in the floating city.  CARRIER premiers Sunday, April 27th - Thursday, May 1st at 9. 

The USS NIMITZ has a strong connection to Hampton Roads, having been built by Newport News Shipbuilding.  Her keel was laid on June 22, 1968; she was launched on May 13, 1972, and commissioned on May 3, 1975.

Coming Eastbound on I-64 (from Williamsburg), use Exit 261A, (Hampton Roads Center Parkway) to Big Bethel Road, then right to Thomas Nelson Drive. Turn right and follow Thomas Nelson Drive to the campus. Turn left onto Loop Road and follow to parking outside Templin Hall. The Dr. Mary T. Christian Auditorium is located in Templin Hall.

Coming Westbound on I-64 (from Norfolk) use Exit 262B to Magruder Blvd. toward NASA/Poquoson. At the third light, turn left onto Butler Farm Road then turn right onto Loop Road. You will go over two speed bumps. After you go over the second speed bump, the road turns into Thomas Nelson Dr. Follow to parking outside Templin Hall. The Dr. Mary T. Christian Auditorium is located in Templin Hall.
