Pickin' On WHRV explores the resurgent interest in traditional and contemporary Bluegrass Music. The program is geared towards both the seasoned and new bluegrass listener. Produced in conjunction with “ Acoustic Highway” the program continues a fine Sunday evening tradition of Americana Music.
Host Barry Graham weaves the masters of Bluegrass such as Monroe, Stanley, Reno, Martin, Osborne, with the new generation of performers, including, Krauss, McCoury, and Nickel Creek. Historical references, concert information, and where to pick is always mentioned in the show. Specials are also a staple of the program with Bluegrass authority Harold Smith from the group “ East Virginia” a frequent guest. With roots deep in the hills of West Virginia, Barry delights in keeping alive the finest traditions of bluegrass music.
