Michael Franti & Spearhead “Yell Fire”

Sounds like: Bob Marley, Dave Matthews Band

Is it any good: Powerful political commentary delivered by some of the catchiest reggae, rock and soul tunes of the year. You’ll never have so much fun becoming informed. The album was inspired by a trip to the Middle East Franti made in 2004 visiting Iraq, Israel and Palestine. It is the most in your face his music has been since he began recording in 2000. A seamless mix of rock, reggae, rap and soul with some beautiful ballads which all contain some type of social or political theme, the cd isn’t as much a concept album as a reflection of Franti’s activist way of life. Serious music with a serious party vibe.
