Mark Knopfler & Emmylou Harris “All the Roadrunning” and “Real Live Roadrunning”

Sounds like: Dire Straits, Flying Burrito Brothers

Is it any good: Two familiar voices join together for an album of duets about couples growing old together. Knopfler’s solo work since leaving Dire Straits has leaned in Celtic and Country directions so it should be no surprise to hear him pair up with Emmylou on songs which sound like they’ve been singing together for as long as…well,  the characters in the songs on this album. The studio album released early in the year is all new songs and the live album also has some great renditions of some of their better known older songs. Both are pristine, flawless collections of performances by two veteran favorites.
