HearSay on Health: Fight for the Cure
Just 27 years old when diagnosed with Breast Cancer, Lifetime Television executive Geralyn Lucas opted for radical treatment and in the nine years since she has beaten cancer. She shares her life-altering experiences in a memoir, 'Why I Wore Lipstick to My Mastectomy' and today on HearSay. Hundreds of new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed this next year in Hampton Roads and we already have a higher than expected level of later stage breast cancer in our population. Joining us to talk about the new Breast Center at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center is Dr. Catherine Hayward, medical director of the Breast Center and a general surgeon specializing in breast surgery, and Anne Campbell-Maxwell, service line administrator for Oncology Services.

Virginia Opera
Maestro Peter Mark recently celebrated his 100th production with the Virginia Opera, conducting 700 performances in the 33 years since he joined the Opera before its first full season in 1975. Maestro Mark will join us in the studio to talk about his tenure with Virginia Opera and the growth of Opera throughout America. Also in the studio will be Glenn Winters, who runs the Operation Opera program, a Virginia Opera community outreach program that delivers presentations to a wide variety of groups throughout the Commonwealth annually and WHRO's Music Director Dwight Davis.
