Be There, Be Counted
In 1971, the 26th Amendment was ratified setting the voting age in the U.S. at eighteen.  But despite opening up the polls to the under 21 set, turnout amongst voters aged eighteen to twenty-four has been typically low.  In 2004 only 47 percent of the registered young cast their choice.  Will that change in 2008?  We'll talk about it today and learn how the WHRO Center for Regional Citizenship is supporting local initiatives to engage young people in the election process.

What Are You Doing on Your Summer Vacation?
A recent study conducted by Expedia found that nearly 48 million Americans don't take advantage of all of the paid vacation days that they receive from their employer. Combined with an increasing tendency to stay connected to work when taking time off and escalating travel costs the idea of a true summer respite is becoming out of reach to more and more people. Yet research shows that taking time away from work to have some fun improves mental health, can reduce the risk of stress related disease and often leads to increased productivity when returning to work. We'll talk about your summer travel plans, and the latest travel buzzword, 'staycations', today on HearSay.
