We'll take a look at the top stories making news, including a discussion on the state of business in Hampton Roads.  The nation's economy has been hit hard by housing, credit and financial crises.  Tough times means increased business for some while others struggle to make ends meet.  And we'll find out from Virginia Beach Mayor Meyera Oberndorf why the resort city is being nationally recognized as a good place to run a small business.

Learn what a bank looks for in a loan package, what factors are considered in reviewing a loan package, how a credit report impacts a loan request, when a bank will consider using the Small Business Administration Loan Guaranty and more.
· Federal, State and Local Procurement
Tuesday, April 15, 6 to 8 p.m.
Learn about the various state and federal contracting programs and how to successfully compete for contracts. Attendees will receive information about contracting program benefits, eligibility criteria, contract solicitation procedures and how you can take part in the federal, state and local government procurement process.
· Financial Recordkeeping
Tuesday, April 22, 6 to 8 p.m.
Learn how to apply basic accounting principles to financial recordkeeping. This workshop is designed specifically for small business owners and bookkeepers.
· Web Site Design and E-Commerce
Tuesday, April 29, 6 to 8 p.m.
Learn how to create a blueprint for a successful Web site design and find out information about potential e-commerce matching grant programs offered to small business owners. This workshop is designed specifically for small business owners.

Workshops will take place at the Department of Economic Development, 222 Central Park Avenue, Suite 1000~Virginia Beach.
