General Assembly Headlines: MONEY TALKS
Once again state lawmakers find themselves divided - this time the House and Senate are split on spending priorities.  We'll have all of the latest politics of the General Assembly on today's HearSay.  Join Cathy and her guests, Dr. Quentin Kidd, Associate Professor in the Department of Government and Public Affairs at Christopher
Newport University and Daily Press reporter Kimball Payne.  We'll also look at the controversial practice of pay day lending.  Cathy talks to Jim Romeo from the Tidewater Sowers of Justice and Jamie Fulmer, spokesperson for Advance America-Cash Advance Centers, Inc. the largest pay day lender in Virginia.

OUT IN THE COLD
Our shortest month is turning out to be the coldest so far this Winter in Hampton Roads.  That has us turning our attention to those without shelter - the area's homeless.  We'll talk about what progress has been made to end homelessness with Thaler McCormick, Executive Director of For Kids and Katie Kitchen, Director of the City of Norfolk Office to End Homelessness.

Everyone knows the numbers.  Statistics suggest that 50% of all marriages will end in divorce.  New approaches such as mediation are now available for couples hoping to end their unions peacefully, out of divorce court, and without a big fight.  We'll talk about it on today's HearSay with Marie Donlan, Divorce Coach and Marriage and Family Therapist and acclaimed divorce attorney Jeffrey Leaving, author of  "DIVORCE WARS: A Field Guide to the Winning Tactics, Preemptive Strikes, and Top Maneuvers When Divorce Gets Ugly."

Newsweek dubbed him one of the nation's "Captains of the Airwaves."  Public radio and television journalist Tavis Smiley comes to Hampton Roads this weekend to host the State of the Black Union symposium.  He'll join Cathy on today's HearSay to talk about the summit, its link to Jamestown 2007 and the challenges facing blacks in America today.

In conjunction with the Jamestown 2007 celebration, we'll look at the true story of one of history's most famous heroines, Pocahontas.  Camilla Townsend, Associate Professor of History at Rutgers University, delves into how Indians like Pocahontas and her father, King Powhatan, confronted the military power of the colonizing English in her book "Pocahontas and the Powhatan Dilemma"
