WAR AND REMEMBRANCE
In 1918, on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day in the eleventh month an armistice was signed to end World War I. The date would later become an annual holiday in honor of those who have served in the armed forces of the United States. On today's HearSay, historian John Quarstein joins Cathy to discuss the history of what is now known as Veteran's Day. Also today, a conversation with Seaman Jonathan Hutto, the Norfolk-based sailor who's part of a group of active duty military members opposed to the occupation of Iraq. And we'll hear about activities to honor veterans throughout Hampton Roads and in the Filipino-American community, and a book for children in military families.
