Silver Moonbeams with Bill Hicok
Silver Moonbeams is a program of music for guitar. The name comes from a poem by Paraguayan composer and virtuoso guitarist Agustin Barrios who died in 1944. “Silver Moonbeams” is a reference to the strings of his guitar. Most of what I play is music for solo classical guitar but occasionally I may feature something played on steel string acoustic guitar, lute, vihuela or other plucked string instrument. I also sometimes play guitar duets like Pearl and Gray or groups like the LA Guitar Quartet. Occasionally I have featured a piece for guitar and chamber orchestra or guitar accompanied by other instruments. When the opportunity arises I have interviewed guitarists on the air including Joann Falletta, Robin Welch, and Sharon Isbin. My goals are to further the appreciation and awareness of classical guitar music in the area, learn more about the instrument and the music and enjoy myself.
